Tesco has today announced the creation of 23 new jobs in Meath with the opening of its new store at Clonmagadden, Navan. This is the retailer’s second store in Navan and its sixth store in the county, boosting local employment to over 280.
Located at Cluain Adáin, Clonmagadden, the new Tesco store offers an extensive range of groceries, fresh produce, household items, and more, all at competitive prices. As the world’s biggest retail buyer of Irish food and drink, Tesco proudly offers customers 100% Irish Tesco own-label beef, pork, chicken, milk, and eggs along with locally produced rapeseed oil from Newgrange Gold and chocolates made by Lir in Navan.

Local schoolchildren Tamy Akobo and Katie Poole, accompanied by their teachers Patrick Kelly and Claire Dixon from Navan Educate Together National School were VIP guests at the ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the new store. Tamy, who is 11 years old, lives close to the new store and has been monitoring the planning and construction stage of the new store with interest.
Store Manager, Debbie Comiskey, has been with Tesco Ireland for 15 years and has previously managed several stores across Dublin. Speaking at the official opening, she said “We have been working hard to prepare for opening our new store today and are looking forward to getting to know our new customers and becoming part of the local community in Clonmagadden”.
Through its Stronger Starts community strategy, Tesco champion’s children’s health at both national and local levels. In Navan, Tesco supports Scoil Naomh Eoin through Stronger Starts Food, providing free fresh fruit and vegetables to children who need it most. The retailer also supports community projects including Scoil Naomh Eoin, St Oliver Plunkett National School, and St Paul’s Primary School through its blue token Community Fund, along with fundraising for its charity partner Children’s Health Foundation and donating surplus food each evening for redistribution.
