Riches in Rochestown! Centra store in Cork suburb celebrates selling €1 million Daily Million ticket

Posted on: 27 May 2024

A busy Centra store in Rochestown was revealed as the selling location for the €1 million winning ticket from the Daily Million 9pm draw on Thursday 23rd May. The newest National Lottery millionaire purchased their winning Quick Pick ticket on the day of the draw at Centra, Rochestown road, Rochestown, Co Cork.

Store manager Kim Hickey was thrilled to hear that one of their customers now has a ticket worth a life-changing amount.

“Believe it or not we’ve had a couple of big wins in this store! History has repeated itself as we already previously sold a Daily Millions Top Prize ticket worth € 1 Million to one of our customers back in 2020 and then two years later, we sold a EuroMillions Plus top prize ticket worth €500,000. So, we couldn’t believe it when we got the call that we’d sold another winning ticket that’s made someone an overnight millionaire. It’s unreal! We’re just delighted for whoever it is. Our shop would be very busy with locals, but we would also get a few tourists and visitors passing through at this time of year. It’s great news for the community too and we are all delighted here in store”, she said.

The National Lottery can confirm that the Cork winner, who has taken the title of sixth Daily Million top prize winner of 2024, has made contact and arrangements are being made for them to collect their life-changing cheque in Lotto HQ.

National Lottery spokesperson Sarah Ruane said: “It’s been the most memorable week of wins I’ve experienced in the National Lottery. Five new millionaires made in just seven days! Our newest millionaire is a player in Cork who scooped the Daily Million Top.

Prize of €1 Million in Thursday night’s 9pm draw. It’s the third time a player has scooped the Daily Million Top Prize of €1 million in just five days! This win also marks the 6th Daily Million Top Prize win of the year to date. I can confirm our Cork winner was on the ball and has already contacted our Claims Team. Arrangements are being made for them to collect their prize in Lotto HQ.”

Meanwhile a EuroMillions Plus player in the Clonsilla area of Dublin scooped the Top Prize of €500,000 in last night’s draw (24th May).

The Dublin player has become the ninth EuroMillions Plus top prize winner of 2024 following wins by players in Dublin (2) Tipperary, Cork, Wicklow (2) Kilkenny and Laois.

The winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased on the day of the draw at Tesco Ireland, Clonsilla, Roselawn, Dublin 15.

The winning EuroMillions Plus numbers in the 24th May draw were: 31, 37, 38, 39, 48.

The winner, who now has a ticket worth €500,000, is advised to sign the back of their ticket and keep it safe. They should make contact with the prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie and arrangements will be made for them to claim their prize in Lotto HQ.
