Naas service station celebrates selling €1 million Daily Million ticket

Posted on: 06 Feb 2024

A busy service station in Naas was revealed as the selling location for the €1 million winning ticket from the Daily Million 2pm draw on Sunday 28th January. The newest National Lottery millionaire purchased their winning Quick Pick ticket on the day of the draw at Monread Fare on the Monread Road in Naas, Co. Kildare.

Store owner Liam Fitzpatrick was thrilled to hear that one of his customers now has a ticket worth a life-changing amount.

“This is by far the biggest ticket that we have ever sold and we just hope that the winner makes contact with the National Lottery soon. As soon as word gets out that we sold the winning ticket, I reckon we’ll see lots of our regulars and locals in to check their tickets. Imagine having a ticket worth €1 million and no idea just how much it’s worth. It’s great news for the community too and we are all delighted here in store. Fingers crossed the winner comes forward soon,” he said.

The Kildare winner, who has taken the title of second Daily Million top prize winner of 2024, is advised to sign the back of their ticket and to keep it safe. They should make contact with the National Lottery prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie and arrangements will be made for them to collect their life-changing cheque in Lotto HQ.

Meanwhile, at Lotto HQ today a Kerry man realised his dreams to officially become the very first National Lottery millionaire of 2024 after he won the top prize of €1 million in the Daily Million draw on Tuesday 23rd January.

The delighted Kerry player who won the life-changing prize with a ticket he purchased online told of his shock when he received an email to tell him that he had won the €1 million prize. He said: “It was Tuesday night, so I actually played a EuroMillions ticket online. At around half eight that night, I received an email from the lottery to tell me that I’d won €4 in the EuroMillions draw. It was sitting there in the account so I thought I might as well buy a ticket for the Daily Million draw on the same night. Shortly after that draw at 9pm, I got another email from the Lottery but this time there was something different about it. It didn’t tell me how much I’d won but it told me that I’d won big. I logged into my account, half expecting to see I’d won another €4, and I could never have prepared myself for the fright that I got when I seen that there was a €1 million prize on my ticket. It was such an incredible feeling.”

“I’ve managed to get over the initial shock of becoming a millionaire and of course I’ve also had to convince my family that this really happened! We will take some time out before we decide what to do with the money, but we’ll be sensible. We want to pay off our mortgage and some bills first but after that, we’ll focus on looking after family members as much as we can,” he said.

In the past week, three National Lottery players have become millionaires. While two Daily Million players in Kerry and Kildare won €1 million each, an online player in Dublin became the first Lotto jackpot winner on Saturday night after scooping over €14.67 million.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “It has certainly been a life-changing week for three of our players nationwide. We were delighted to meet the Kerry Daily Million winner, who won their prize online, in Lotto HQ to collect their massive amount and we are hoping that the Kildare winner will follow suit and come forward soon. Of course, that’s not the only big winner that we are yet to hear from. The Lotto jackpot winner who won over €14.67 million in Saturday’s draw is also yet to make contact. The Dublin winner, who is also the first Lotto jackpot winner of 2024, scooped the massive amount online and will have received a notification and email about the win. We are advising all of our online players in Dublin to carefully check their online accounts and take a look at their tickets from Saturday night to see if they have won the hugely life-altering amount.”
