Lidl Ireland opened the doors to its brand-new store in Moycullen Galway on Thursday morning, creating 25 permanent retail jobs in the local community and taking the retailer’s store count to 10 in the county.
Galway Ladies Gaelic Footballers Ailbhe Davoren and team captain Kate Geraghty joined the store team on the morning to cut the ribbon and officially open the new store which is located in the Gaeltacht region of County Galway and features signage in Irish.
Lidl also donated €1,000 in Lidl vouchers towards two local sporting clubs - basketball club Cumann Cispheile Mhaigh Cuilinn and ladies’ Gaelic football club Cuman Peil na mBan Maigh Cuilinn.
Along with opening day entertainment and middle aisle offers, queuing customers were given complimentary Lidl vouchers to spend in-store.
The new Lidl store offers customers a premium shopping experience, with wide aisles, self-service check outs, two Deposit Return Scheme machines, long tills as well as an in-store bakery and off licence. Externally, the store benefits from regenerative landscaping and a spacious customer car park with dedicated EV charging spaces.
