Cadbury and Tesco unveil Clarehall Mural

Posted on: 27 Jul 2023

Calling all Cadbury fans in or around Clarehall! Celebrating 19 years of community and connection, Cadbury and Tesco have teamed up to create an all-new piece of artwork, inspired by their ongoing relationship and work in North Dublin.

The vibrant in-store mural has been in the works for weeks and has now been unveiled to the public at Tesco Clarehall. Designed and painted by local artist Tara O’Brien, the artwork is a visual representation of the journey from Cadbury’s Coolock Factory to Tesco Clarehall, celebrating both businesses’ strong and long-standing links to their local community.

Cadbury, the nation’s favourite chocolate brand, and Tesco Clarehall have been working together within the North Dublin community since 2004. In this specially designed mural, Tara highlights the impact both businesses have had in the local area during this time. From the first ever Cadbury treat created at Coolock Factory to Tesco Clarehall’s grand opening in 2004, their ongoing involvement in the community has led to:

  • Over 1 million Cadbury bars being produced daily in Coolock Factory
  • Almost 400 community projects that have been funded through Tesco’s Community Fund
  • Over 500 people employed by Mondelēz in Coolock Factory and 200 by Tesco Clarehall

Speaking at the launch of the mural, Tesco Ireland Commercial Director, Joe Manning says: “We are very proud of our presence in the community of Clarehall and North Dublin. Like Cadbury, we have been embedded in the local community for many years and in that time, we have helped hundreds of organisations and community groups through our Tesco Community Fund.”

Encouraging the people of North Dublin to join the celebration, Managing Director of Mondelez Ireland, Eoin Kellett says: “We’re delighted to bring such a beautiful and visual representation of the Cadbury and Tesco Clarehall relationship to the local community; the vibrant piece is sure to bring a smile to shoppers’ faces!”

But that’s not all that chocolate-lovers had to look forward to! The unveiling of the brand-new artwork was also an opportunity to sample Cadbury’s latest creation, Twirl Mint.

It’s no secret that Coolock Factory is the birthplace of some of the most beloved Cadbury classics; it was even where fan-favourite Twirl was first invented. That’s why the artwork unveiling was also an opportunity to sample Twirl Mint, a limited-edition minty fresh twist on the original Cadbury Twirl. Produced in Coolock Factory, Twirl Mint is available in supermarkets nationwide now, with free samples available in Tesco Clarehall this Thursday, 27th July at 9.00am.

The unveiling of the mural took place in Tesco Clarehall on Thursday, 27th July at 9.00am.
