Circle K, Ireland’s leading forecourt and convenience retailer, has announced the opening of three new milesBIO HVO100 locations across its network bringing to eight the total number of locations where customers can now access milesBIO HVO100. These latest additions are part of Circle K’s commitment to provide access to Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) renewable diesel on all national road routes.
The three new milesBIO HVO100 pumps are located at Circle K Monaghan, Co. Monaghan, City North on the M1 and Kill South on the M7/N7 Co. Kildare, with plans for two additional sites to be unveiled in the coming months. milesBIO HVO100 is already located at Circle K Dublin Port, Co. Dublin; Circle K Junction 8, M8, Cashel, Co. Tipperary; Circle K Junction 5, M9, Rathcrogue, Co. Carlow; and Circle K Junction 14, M8, Gortore, Fermoy, Co. Cork and Circle K Express Daly’s Lifford, Co. Donegal.
milesBIO HVO100 is a completely fossil-free biofuel made from waste, by-products and derived products not intended for human consumption from the food industry and can be used to power diesel vehicles. HVO alternative diesel offers an up to 90% reduction in carbon emissions over regular diesel.
Through the introduction of milesBIO HVO100, Circle K is supporting businesses with fleet operations in reducing their carbon emissions. Companies such as cooking oil supplier Frylite Solutions, freight and logistics operator DFDS, and Musgraves MarketPlace have all now partnered with Circle K and introduced milesBIO HVO100 to their operations to reduce emissions across their respective fleets.
In addition, Circle K’s own logistics fleet, responsible for over 1,000 truck deliveries weekly, is now running entirely on HVO. This move has resulted in a reduction of up to 90% in carbon emissions for all fuel deliveries across the network, contributing significantly to Ireland’s carbon reduction targets.
HVO remains a key priority for Circle K and in 2024it plans to expand its footprint by introducing further locations. The company has allocated over €2 million this year towards ongoing and upcoming projects including enhancing storage facilities at its terminals and advancing HVO technology to meet evolving market demands.
As Circle K leads innovation within the fuel retail sector, it remains aligned with the Irish Government’s ambition to reduce transport carbon emissions by 50% by 2030.
